Are you spending more time in virtual meetings & webinars? If so, here are some tips to make sure you’re prepared for your next Zoom meeting or webinar. Visual Considerations Location : Give careful consideration to where you’re going to participate in your meeting or webinar. If you’re participating from home: Is there a door on the room that you can close to keep out the noise? Is the room relative sound-proof? If other people will be home during your meeting, can they stay on a separate floor or a separate section of your house? Consider the natural lighting in your room. Make sure that you’re not in the direct path of the light as you sit down for your meeting. Make sure direct light won’t hit your camera from behind. If you only have fluorescent lighting in the room you plan to use, consider bringing in another source of light. Background : Ideally, people will focus on you, but they’re also going to see whatever is in the background behind where you are sitting. A simple background that’s not distracting is ideal. A bookcase is sometimes nice as long as you don’t mind people seeing what you have on your shelf. If you want to engage in branding, then you can consider investing in a simple background banner which repeats your logo over & over.
